Dog Kennels

Here at Oak Ride Farm, we have 10 boarding kennels all in one single block. Each kennel is private and only dogs from the same household will be allowed to share.

The kennel block is fully heated. Each kennel has an inside sleeping area with extra infra-red heating for the colder periods. All our kennels have runs attached, with access to an outside area at all times during the day. These adjoining outside runs are protected with transparent roofing for protection from the rain and shade sails for protection from the sun during hot periods.

Our primary concern is the welfare of your pets, this means we have a simple yet affective routine which includes disinfecting the kennels inside and outside daily, making sure there is plenty of fresh water available at all times and structuring your pets day with plenty of enrichment and exercise whilst being mindful of much needed down time in and around meal times. We will always strive to provide at least two walks per day outside of the kennels and will rotate between our three enclosed off-lead areas, and many lead walking fields here at the farm, to provide as much variation as possible during your pets stay.

We provide everything your pet would need for their stay here including beds, bedding, bowls, toys and food. However, we are more than happy for you to bring as much or as little as you need to make your pets stay more comfortable. We have a selection of both wet and dry food.

You are welcome to visit the kennels for a viewing prior to booking, this is by appointment only between 1.30pm – 3pm.

The first time you bring your dog to us for boarding, you will be asked to fill out a registration form providing a full profile of your pet and your contact details.

Vaccination Requirements

All dogs will need to be fully vaccinated, including a separate kennel cough vaccination, at least 2 weeks prior to boarding with us and have their certificates with them each time they stay. They will also need to be up to date with all flea and worming treatments.

No dog will be admitted without up-to-date vaccination against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and kennel cough.

I have had a long association with Oak Ride kennels and can’t praise them enough. My present dog, a Flatcoated retriever, loves going there, whether it is just for a day of socialising and playing with other dogs, or a longer stay when I go on holiday. He goes in every time, tail wagging and comes back the same. All the staff are brilliant and truly love animals. It is such a relief to have somewhere to leave him knowing that he will be happy and well looked after.

The day stay has also been a godsend if I have to leave him or need to keep him out of the way for any reason. I can leave him to play at the kennels instead of him having to be shut indoors for hours. I highly recommend Oak Ride farm as a lovely place to leave your dog.
